Church Growth: How To Create Impactful Church Graphics

Scriptures & Definition (EDIT)

There is a lot of talk in the church today about the ability to manifest one’s faith. Some church leaders say it’s hocus pokus, others say if you have enough faith, a Ferreri will appear in your driveway.

How can we understand this term in a Biblical, healthy way?

Here are a few verses that discuss manifestation:

No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit.  Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” -Luke 6:43-45

Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.” –Matthew 7:17-18

But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what defile a person” -Matthew 14:18-20a

Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.” -John 14-21

He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.” -Mark 7:20-23

Manifest: to bring out; the natural process of bringing what is on the inside of a person into the world.

Big Idea: Manifestation is the natural process of bringing what’s on the inside to the outside.

The Bible does not say this is an act of spontaneous inner faith, or miraculous work on behalf of God, rather, the Bible says manifestation has to do with the works of man.

The individual works you choose to do reveal who you are on the inside. Consider this passage:

But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. 19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless[d]? Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,”[e] and he was called God’s friend. You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.

In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? 26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.” -James 2:18-26

Works bring our faith to full fruition. As the passage above said “His faith was made complete by what he did. When we manifest what we believe inside, we make what is inside complete.

Big Idea: Faith is made complete by what you do

In times of inner confliction, the action we choose to take reveals to us what we have chosen to believe in more. The act of choosing internally solidifies the thing we have chosen and weakens the thing we chose against.

When you have faith in something or someone, it will naturally manifest into reality in the form of actions. Consistent actions multiplied over time produce fruit, both good and bad.

Big Idea: Action multiplied over time creates fruit.
